Use a Firewall, Go to Jail

According to this article, in the future it could be illegal for you to use a firewall, or encrypt your files, or a number of other things that most people do to secure and protect their data. This kind of shit really scares me...

Oscar Night

Well the Oscars have come and gone once again, and even though I don't always agree with the nominations I always watch the show. I like to see who wins, who loses and the acceptance speeches are always entertaining. I was upset that Adaptation didn't get nominated for best picture. I was glad to see Road to Perdition get the Oscar for cinematography. Besides it being a good movie, visually it was just amazing.

One of the more moving moments of the night was the very touching acceptance speech given by best actor winner Adrien Brody. At the end of the speech his plea for peace brought the audience to its feet. Overall I thought it was worth watching. If for no other reason then to take your mind off of whats happening overseas, if only for a few hours.

Life is good...

Two snow days in a row? Am I dreaming? Either way it's pretty nice... at first I was going to have to go in at noon... but then the higher ups came to their senses and closed up shop for the entire day. Maybe now I'll have time to study up for that Starfleet entrance exam. I gotta get going if I'm going to make Captain one day.

Snow Day!

Don't you just love snow days?? This takes me back to my school days when I used to sit at the window wishing for snow... The funny part is I live within walking distance of work, so I could have made it in... but we won't tell them that. Shhh....

Tears of the Sun

I went and saw Tears of the Sun last night. I thought it was a pretty good flick. The movie didn't really pick up until the end but I still think it's worth seeing. Plus Monica Bellucci is always nice to look at... I might not have liked it as much except that there hasn't been that many good movies out lately... I hate it when theres a dry spell like this. I don't see it ending anytime soon either... I wonder if I'll be able to make it until May 15th?

Nintendo going under?

According to this story, Nintendo is in a little bit of trouble. I hope this isn't true since I happen to be a proud owner of a GameCube. I do agree that Nintendo should abandon it's "console-exclusive software publishing strategy", but would people still buy a GameCube if you could play Zelda and Mario on the Xbox?
