The Village

I saw The Village last week. I though it was pretty good. It wasn't quite what I expected but I still think it's worth seeing. It's a little different then the rest of Night's films...which is not necessarily a bad thing. The one thing that stood out in the movie was the performance my Bryce Dallas Howard. You should check the movie out just to see her... =o) I need to see it again now that I know 'the secret ending'. I think I would like it better if I did.

Fangs for the Memories...

It's sad but true. After five seasons Angel comes to an end... I won't go into how pissed I am that the WB decided to cancel the show. I'm pretty sure I've already brought that up here before, and told everyone I know about it... several times.

I thought the last episode was a good one. It had all the things that I've come to love about Angel. Action, drama, suspense... and humor, which always seems to come out of know where but at the same time fits in perfectly with the show. The series had a definite end but it was also left a little open in case Joss ever decides to revisit Angel and the gang. I've heard rumors about some Angel TV movies coming out next year but I'm not holding my breath. It was good while it lasted... one of the best shows on TV. I guess I'll always have the DVDs if I need a Good vs. Evil, vampire with a soul , two vampires with souls, demon butt kickin' fix.

(yes I know the title of the post is corny... cut me some slack... I'm in mourning)

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

I saw this movie at the midnight show last week and all I can say if wow... The movie was simply excellent. In most cases the movies get worse the more sequels that they have... that definitely isn't the case here. In fact I think the movies have gotten better. I still need to see it again because I'm ashamed to admit I dozed off a couple of times.

Underworld

Save yourself some money and download the trailer instead of going to see it in the theater. They show all of the best parts in that. The movie wasn't that bad... it just wasn't that good either. The only thing that made it bearable was Ms. Beckinsale.

Lost in Translation

I really liked this movie. It was different, which is always good these days. Anytime I see a movie with even the slightest hint of originality I run to see it the first chance I get. Both Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson did an excellent job. If you want to see something a little different check it out... or I guess you could go see this piece of garbage. Your choice.

The Xindi

So far the 'new direction' doesn't seem that different. Which is fine with me since I didn't think anything was wrong with the series to begin with. I do hope they can attract more viewers. I would hate to see the series get cancelled before it has time to mature. I really liked tonights episode. It had action, humor... and a scene towards the end involving T'Pol was....most enjoyable.

Punch-Drunk Weird

Watched this movie last night.... and I'm not really sure what to make of it. The only thing I'm sure of is that it's really weird...and a little fucked up. Both Adam Sandler and Emily Watson did an excellent job. I don't know... I think I need to watch it again before I can make a final judgement.

Dirty Pretty Things

I went and saw this movie last night and must say I was pleasantly surprised. I don't usually go to see these low budget independent type films but decided to give this one a try. The acting was excellent, the 'bad guys' were really bad, and who doesn't like a little organ removal mixed in with their romance? Plus after seeing this movie I completely fell in love with Audrey Tautou. I think I need to run out and rent Amelie right now. And if all that wasn't enough, the company was excellent.

The Emperor's Club

I rented this movie earlier in the week and wasn't that impressed. As I was watching it I kept thinking about Dead Poets Society, and how it was a much better film. Maybe if you get it has a gift or find it on the side of the road I'd give it look. If on the other hand you're looking for a good teacher/student bonding movie I'd see Poets.

Paint the Town Blue

Talk about some good music... the Pikes Peak Blues Community is having a summer concert series this summer. Tonight I was jammin' to the music of John Alex Mason...good stuff. Theres still a couple weeks left if you want to check it out... it's some great music...plus it's free! It doesn't get much better then that.

28 Days Later...

I was a little disappointed in this movie... only because it didn't scare the crap out of me like I hoped it would. I'm not saying I wouldn't recommend the movie. I think it's worth a look... if for no other reason then to see something different. I should warn you that this isn't a movie for the little ones... unless you don't want them to be able to fall asleep for the next 5 years...

Terminator 3

I went and saw Terminator 3 last night... my first reaction to it was eh... It didn't blow me away like the second one did. Maybe if I see it again I'll like it better.

Not sure yet...

Well the jury is still out on the ITrip... In my car, which is the main place where I wanted to use it I keep getting interference from something. Today I tried it in a co-workers car and it sounded great. I'm thinking my antenna that's coming into the back of my car stereo might be lose or something. If I could getting to work like it did today in my car it would be great... I guess I just need to play around with it some more...

Woah...

I'm almost not sure where to begin... I think I need to see the movie again to get a real sense of how much I liked it. Like a lot of movies coming out this summer I let my anticipation of the movie get a little carried away, which made the movie a little less enjoyable. At least for the first viewing. I have read a few reviews and heard complaints that Reloaded is nothing but action sequences and special effects. This isn't true... in fact the action doesn't really pick up until the second hour.

It's getting a lot of good reviews, even though most say that it isn't as good as the original. The cliffhanger at the end of Reloaded is a good one... and I expect that the third installment of the series will be better then the second, and hopefully all of our questions will be answered.

X2

It was only last night that I went to see this movie and I already want to go see it again. If you're a fan of the original you're going to love this one. I think one of the good things about this movie is that you don't have to see the original to enjoy it. It does help though, because in this one there is about zero character development. I didn't really mind it too much. Being a fan of the first movie and the comics before that I pretty much know all of the characters and their back story.

Which I think is something that Bryan Singer (the director) was counting on. He's already given you some character development in the first one... this time around it's purely about the X-Men showing off. Which they're very good at....and if that's not enough of a reason for you to go see the movie here are a few more.

Donnie Darko

I just got done watching this movie a little while ago... talk about a mind fuck. If you're in the mood for something different you should definitely check this one out... oh and please don't watch this movie while under the influence of any drugs... you've been warned.

Anger Management

I went to see Anger Management the other night. I was surprised by how much I liked this movie... I'm not much of an Adam Sandler fan, but I do like Jack Nicholson quite a bit so I figured it would be worth a look. I'd recommend this movie to anyone who likes Jack. It's worth it just to see him act like a crazy nut.

Tears of the Sun

I went and saw Tears of the Sun last night. I thought it was a pretty good flick. The movie didn't really pick up until the end but I still think it's worth seeing. Plus Monica Bellucci is always nice to look at... I might not have liked it as much except that there hasn't been that many good movies out lately... I hate it when theres a dry spell like this. I don't see it ending anytime soon either... I wonder if I'll be able to make it until May 15th?

Daredevil

Alright, I said I would post my thoughts on this a couple of days ago... sorry for the delay. Overall I thought the movie was pretty good. I thought both Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner did a good job. I think I could have lived without Collin Farrells over-acting though. I give it a C+, it wasn't as good as X-Men or Spiderman, but worth seeing... if for no other reason then to see the trailer for X-Men 2, and to support Jennifer.

Generals

This is the best game ever made... Okay I might be exaggerating a little bit but I'm not when I say that this is by far the best game I've played in a long time. If you're a fan of RTS games then I suggest you pick this one up. Now.

Command & Conquer: Generals

...After going to about 5 different stores I was finally able to get copy of Generals last night. I haven't played it too much, but so far I'm very impressed. The graphics are amazing. I've been playing too much Starcraft lately though, so I'll have to get my mind back into C&C mode.

I bought an IPod today, one of the 10GB models. I bought it from a coworker so I got a really good deal. So far I'm loving it... Like the Tivo, it's one of those things you wonder how you ever lived without.

Confessions of a Boring Movie

I'll try and keep this brief. If you had been thinking about going to see this movie, don't. The previews make it look like a good movie, but believe me the only good/funny parts of the movie are in the previews. If you're wanting to go see a movie, see Adaptation. If you've already seen it go see it again.... You'll thank me for this later.

Adaptation

I went and saw the movie Adaptation a few days ago. What an excellent film. It was the most original thing I've seen in a long time. I'm not a huge fan of Nicolas Cage, but this movie almost made me one. He gives an excellent performance in this movie as the screenwriter Charlie Kaufman and his twin brother David. Look for this movie at the Oscars... if it isn't nominated then theres something wrong with the whole damn system.

I almost forgot, I'll be going later today to see Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. I'll post a mini-review later tonight.

Golden Globes

I don't get it... The Golden Globes don't have an obnoxious host or boring musical numbers, yet the program still manages to be 3 hours long. In case you hadn't guessed, I did watch the show last night. Besides the Oscars this is the only awards show that I watch. They have too many of them these days... next thing you know we'll be watching the JC Penny Movie awards... sheesh. Overall I thought it was a good show... although I might have to boycott it next year because Jennifer didn't win....

Gangs of New York

I saw this movie a couple of nights ago... I don't really think it deserves all the attention that it's getting. It wasn't a bad movie, I just didn't think it was that great. The only thing that did stand out in the movie was the performance given by Daniel Day-Lewis. I'm sure he'll win the Golden Globe tomorrow night, and possibly even go on to win an Oscar. I always watch those award shows for some reason... they're at least 4 hours long, and I only really care about a handful of the categories. Oh well, I guess it's something to watch...

Top Ten Movies of 2002

This list isn't necessarily what I would call the best of 2002, but they're pretty damn good.... and if you haven't seen any of these what the hells wrong with you?? Some were a lot better then others... but for the most part all of these movies stood out as something fresh and original. I've put these in order according to which ones I think are better. Also, I know there are twelve movies listed here... I cheated a little bit...so sue me.

12. Brotherhood of the Wolf
11. Windtalkers
10. Bourne Identity
9. Mothman Prophecies
8. We Were Soliders
7. Insomnia
6. The Ring
5. Minority Report
4. Road to Perdition
3. Catch me if you Can
2. LOTR: The Two Towers
1. Signs

Catch me if you can...

I went and saw this movie over the weekend... despite having Leo in it I liked it a lot. It was a nice break from all the serious movies I've seen lately like Nemisis and Two Towers. What I thought was interesting was that James Gandolfini from The Sopranos was originaly supposed to be in the movie but was later replaced by Tom Hanks. I'm glad Tom Hanks ended up with the role, otherwise I don't think I would have liked the movie as much... On a depressing note, Jennifer Garners' part in the movie was way too small... Oh well, I have hopes that her role in Dare Devil will be better.

LOTR: The Two Towers

Wow.... what an excellent movie... There were so many things I liked about this movie I almost don't know where to start. First off the CGI in this movie is amazing. I think Gollum was the most impressive of the lot. He was done completely in CG, just like Yoda in AOTC. There were only a couple of times were you could tell he wasn't real. There were also a lot of new creatures/monsters in this movie that were amazing. The movie was 3 hours long, but at end of if you wanted more... The last half hour of the movie is the huge battle at Helmsdeep, which itself is worth the price of admission.

Not bad...

I got back from seeing Nemesis about an hour ago... I thought it was a pretty good movie. I had hoped that it would have been better, but my expectations for these movies are always high going in... I think I'll need to see it again. I've heard they're going to make an 11th movie regardless of how this one does. That should be interesting since Nemesis is supposed to be the last movie with TNG cast. I wonder who will be in the next one??

Star Wars on the IMAX

...went and saw Attack of the Clones at the IMAX last week. All I can say is wow... you haven't really seen this movie until you've seen it on the BIG screen. It was pretty amazing... another good thing about seeing it on the IMAX is that they had to cut some of the movie out for it to fit the format... and the parts they cut out were some of the cheesy romance scenes... so I think it was for the best. If you have a chance to go see it I highly recommend it.

Before you die you see...

I went and saw The Ring last night... it was very good. Spooky, creepy, suspenseful... Personally I didn't think it was as scary as everyone else thought it was... that might be because I kind of built it up in my mind as being really super scary. Don't get me wrong... I had trouble going to bed that night, but I guess I was just a little disappointed. I need to go see it again just to try and absorb all of the great imagery that the movie throws at you. I definitely recommend you see it... and the fact that it has Naomi Watts in it doesn't hurt either. =O)

Don't answer your phone...

I'm supposed to go see 'The Ring' tonight. The movie is about a videotape that people watch, and afterwards they get a telephone call from someone/something that says they will die in 7 days. I've seen the previews on TV and read things online about it... it's supposed to scare the crap out of you. I'll make sure I let you know how it is.

Norah Jones

I just recently became aware of a new artist, her name is Norah Jones and if you have any sense at all you'll go by her CD right now! Seriously though, she has a beautiful, soulful voice. It's nice to know that there are people who still like this kind of music.
